Emirates is a regular on "best of" lists and is ranked #3 in Skytrax's 2022 rankings.

Singapore Airlines, the new world's No. 2 carrier according to the Skytrax survey, also won nine awards, including Best Cabin Crew, Best First Class, Best First Class Seat and Best First Class Catering Offer.

Ryanair's surprise

The national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, Emirates, took third place and was also awarded for Best In-Flight Entertainment, Best Economy Class, Best Economy Class Catering and Best Premium Economy Seat.

In one of the biggest upsets of the day, Irish airline Ryanair - never afraid to stir up controversy in its 37-year history - won at the awards for the first time, taking the crown as Europe's best low-cost airline.
